The Australian National Maritime Museum
The Australian National Maritime
Museum is primarily located on the shores of Darling Harbour, with a collection
of retired vessels also open for public viewing, including a submarine, and
tall ships, as well as a handful of other ships that operate on a rotational
basis. The museum features a broad variety of permanent exhibitions focusing
upon Australia’s vast naval and seafaring history. The museum also hosts a
myriad of temporary exhibitions, often with an international focus, such as the
current “Escape from Pompeii” collection.
The museum is open from
9.30am-5pm daily. Tickets to the permanent collections are free, however the
temporary exhibitions can be accessed with an all encompassing ticket costing
$32 for adults, $20 for children, and $79 for a family.
