Barrenjoey Lighthouse Imagine yourself standing on the top of a hill. As you turn a full 360 degrees you see a cliff cascade into the ocean which reaches the endless horizon before it curves into the Australian eastern coast where it seeps in, forming bays, beaches and Australia’s most iconic beach; Palm Beach. This is probably my favourite thing about the lighthouse lookout...being able to see so much of the Australian coastline from one spot. This is what is on offer when you venture up Barrenjoey Head and find the wonders of Sydney’s most northern point. It will take you a 30 minute uphill walk to reach, with choice between a track that gradually ascends or one with stairs. Once you reach the top have a look at the 1881 sandstone lighthouse. There are tours on offer if you are there on a Sunday. Then spare a good amount of time to explore and view all that this lookout has to offer….you may even sight a whale if you are there between May and September!  So the b...

Glistening aqua water, ancient intertwined trees, distant glimpses of the city of Sydney and nearby sights of sails and yachts… These are secrets common to one of Sydney’s best coastal walks; the Hermitage Foreshore Track. Carving along the coast, the track begins in Rose Bay and follows the harbour until it arrives at Shark Bay. It is an easy walk, taking about 30 mins - 1 hour with slight hills, a few stairs and a formed path. Catch a ferry to Rose Bay or park nearby and begin your walk at the end of Bayveiw Hill Road or Neilson Park. Enjoy the private bays, beaches, city sights and greenary along the way.
